FULL CHARACTER CANON

Book 1: Abducted into Fairyland

SPOILER WARNING: These are the characters as they are known by the end of Book 1. This section contains full spoilers for Abducted into Fairyland.
House Roseheart
Damian Roseheart

Role: Demon Emperor and Franzi’s Sire; ruler of the Demon Empire.

Race: Incubus.

Age: app. 300 years

Appearance: Strikingly handsome and strongly built, with an aristocratic presence even while chained naked in a dungeon. Once restored to normal life, he is usually impeccably dressed and groomed in perfectly fitted court or Imperial clothing.

Face: Sharp cheekbones, strong jaw, full lips, dark brows and a hint of stubble. His extraordinary bright blue eyes resemble blue diamonds and can glow with blue light when he uses or carries significant magic. Under extreme infernal power or fury, darkness can temporarily swallow the blue until his eyes become completely black

Hair: Long, dark to black hair.

Body Build: Broad-shouldered, muscular and powerful.

Voice: Deep and melodic, with a faint accent Franzi cannot initially place. His speech is naturally formal and somewhat antiquated, reflecting his aristocratic upbringing and age, but he shifts easily into dry humour and teasing affection. With Franzi his voice is often warm, gentle or amused, particularly when calling her “treasure”, while his Imperial authority emerges as a quiet, unmistakable command when necessary.

Personality: Intelligent, confident, affectionate, teasing and intensely protective of his family. He possesses considerable political cunning and ruthless authority when required, but with Franzi he frequently displays humour, patience and open pride in her. He is observant, emotionally perceptive and capable of moving almost seamlessly between affectionate Sire, experienced lover and Demon Emperor.

Mating / hareem bond: Mate-bonded to Franzi; he is not one of her hareem bonds. Their bond initially appears as a shadowy connection. When Franzi openly acknowledges their connection, the bond transforms into deep crimson, glittering with tiny ruby-bright points like gemstones caught in fire. As a mating bond, it is woven into the soul rather than merely attached to the magical core.

Sexual energy: Tastes of strong black coffee balanced by caramelised sugar, aged leather, the sensation of home and parchment filled with ancient stories, with dangerous metal running beneath it all. Powerful, grounding and unmistakably Damian.

Magical energy: Deeply familiar to Franzi because her own magical system was originally created from Damian’s power. His signature carries the warmth and certainty of coming home, together with the loose-limbed contentment of lying in bed after exceptionally good sex. Beneath that comfort lies a darker, richer sensation: a deep velvet pulse threaded with controlled heat and a faint metallic weight suggesting tremendous contained power. To Franzi, it feels safe, sinful and unmistakably Damian.

Nick for Franzi: Treasure

Jared Shadeborn Roseheart

Role: Damian's eldest son and Simon's twin; approximately two hundred years old; Incubus warrior of House Roseheart.

Age: 200 years old

Appearance: A handsome Demon warrior usually seen armed in fitted black armour marked with faint red sigils. In his Incubus form, his dark horns and wings are broad, bold and almost aggressively shaped, while his tail tends to move restlessly.

Face: Sharp features, high cheekbones, strong jaw and vivid red eyes.

Hair: Short black hair.

Body Build: Tall, athletic and strongly trained for combat.

Personality: Direct, determined, enthusiastic and openly warm. Affectionate, confident and unabashedly flirtatious, Jared wears his emotions more openly than several of his siblings. He is nevertheless a highly capable warrior and switches quickly from humour to action when required. Damian describes him as rarely separated from his sword.

Voice: Confident, direct and teasing, with informal warmth around Franzi. His manner becomes focused and martial very quickly when danger appears.

Mating / hareem bond: None with Franzi established in Book 1.

Sexual energy: Vanilla, raspberry and polished wood, with the metallic scrape of a whetstone beneath it.

Magical energy: not sampled

Nick for Franzi: Cupcake

Simon Shadeborn Roseheart

Role: Damian's son and Jared's twin; approximately two hundred years old; Incubus scholar, political observer and organiser of House Roseheart.

Appearance: Resembles Jared strongly enough that they are unmistakably twins, but presents himself more like a scholar than a warrior. Often wears fitted dark clothing and carries a book. In his Incubus form, polished black horns sweep elegantly backwards from his temples, charcoal-coloured wings show faint blue veins through the membranes, and his tail tends to curl neatly rather than flick restlessly.

Face: Shares Jared's sharp bone structure. His red eyes are usually curious, amused and highly intelligent. He often wears wire-rimmed spectacles.

Hair: Long black hair, usually tied back.

Body Build: Tall, athletic and graceful, with an easy, fluid way of moving; muscular without Jared's overt warrior presence.

Voice: Controlled, articulate and lightly teasing. He can become notably gentle when dealing with vulnerable people, while his sensual delivery is quieter and more deliberate.

Personality: Highly intelligent, observant, teasing and exceptionally good at reading people. More contemplative than Jared, but by no means passive. He combines scholarship with a decidedly mischievous streak and is frighteningly good at noticing things Franzi would rather he missed.

Mating / hareem bond: None

Sexual energy: Whiskey, ocean air and a book opened beside a rainy window, with tempered steel and the edge of a weapon not yet drawn beneath the quieter flavours.

Magical energy: Not specifically characterised in Book 1.

Nickname for Franzi: Sweetheart.

Cassandra Roseheart

Role: Damian’s daughter by House and choice; approximately one hundred and ninety-two years old; powerful Succubus, senior member of House Roseheart and experienced political and social organiser.

Appearance: A stunning Succubus with smooth obsidian skin and an overtly voluptuous presence. In her Demon form, polished black horns curve elegantly from her temples, midnight wings sweep behind her like polished shadow and a long, graceful tail complements her movements.

Face: Rich dark-brown eyes and elegant, highly expressive features.

Hair: Midnight-dark hair streaked with crimson.

Body Build: Generous hourglass figure.

Voice: Silken, sensual and naturally composed, capable of turning into an unmistakable purr when she is teasing or flirting. She shifts easily from seductive warmth to the clear, precise authority of an experienced organiser.

Personality: Confident, gracious, affectionate, organised and politically astute, with a wicked sense of humour. Cassandra can move effortlessly between affectionate family member, formidable noblewoman and highly efficient crisis organiser. She is socially experienced, observant and comfortable taking charge without needing to dominate every room she enters.

Mating / hareem bond: None

Sexual energy: Tastes of wildness and freedom, like a moonless sky above an endless road with nothing ahead except possibility.

Magical energy: An intricate lattice of fine golden threads, supple and sensual at first touch but astonishingly ordered underneath, with every strand seeming to know exactly where it belongs. Beneath the elegance runs a steady pulse of contained heat and a faint bronze weight hinting at considerable power.

Nick for Franzi: Stepsister

Azarael Roseheart

Role: Damian's son by House and choice; approximately one hundred and eighty-five years old; Incubus warrior and Imperial Prince of House Roseheart.

Age: 185 years old

Appearance: A handsome Demon swordsman with warm tan skin and subtly East Asian features, usually seen in beautifully fitted matte-black armour with restrained deep-red detailing. In his Incubus form, his horns are heavier and built for battle, his broad wings appear powerful enough to carry him straight through a battlefield and ridges run along the length of his tail.

Face: Subtly East Asian in appearance, with slightly upturned almond-shaped orange-golden eyes, dark brows, pointed ears and curved black horns.

Hair:

Body Build: Almost 1.90 m tall, lean and powerfully athletic rather than bulky. Broad shoulders taper into a narrow waist, with streamlined muscle and long legs suited to speed and precise swordwork.

Voice: Low, quiet and controlled, with understated warmth around Franzi. Usually calm and concise, with a dry streak of humour.

Personality: Quiet, watchful and intensely observant. Azarael notices almost everything without drawing attention to himself and combines formidable military competence with surprising gentleness. Controlled, practical and honour-minded, he takes protecting others seriously and maintains a strong respect for consent even when his own Incubus instincts are under extreme pressure. Beneath the reserve is a playful streak that emerges when he is relaxed.

Mating / hareem bond: None

Sexual energy: Tastes of steel and the sharp exhilaration of combat, accompanied by the impossible sensation of an eagle soaring high above a battlefield.

Magical energy: Feels like polished obsidian warmed from within, smooth and controlled on the surface while thin ember-red currents move beneath it in precise, disciplined lines. It carries the restrained readiness of a perfectly balanced sword still resting in its sheath, backed by a dense, steady weight of contained power.

Nickname for Franzi: None firmly established. He generally calls her Franziska; he also refers to her as his sister in family contexts.

Elizabeth Roseheart

Role: Damian’s daughter by House and choice; one of his two youngest daughters; Succubus and diplomat of House Roseheart. The Book 1 glossary already establishes her as diplomatic, observant and more politically astute than Franzi initially realises.

Age: 112 years old.

Appearance: A dramatic and striking Succubus with large sweeping horns and wide, beautiful wings resembling stained glass edged in blood. Her overall appearance is more overtly Demonic and dangerous than Helen’s.

Face: Striking features with warm blue eyes.

Hair: Long black hair falling in waves.

Body Build: Slender and feminine, with more softness and curve than Helen’s fine-boned frame but noticeably less voluptuous than Cassandra. Graceful and well-proportioned rather than delicate or lush.

Voice: Rich and warm, with easy social confidence. Usually sincere and composed, but frequently coloured by dry amusement, affectionate teasing or playful challenge.

Personality: Diplomatic, observant, socially confident and affectionate. Elizabeth understands Demon customs, court etiquette and social manoeuvring extremely well and often helps Franzi navigate them with amused practicality. She is considerably more politically astute than Franzi initially realises, sincere in her affection and comfortable speaking her mind. She also has a playful, sometimes wicked sense of humour.

Succubus allure: Warm and passive, an invitation rather than a demand.

Mating / hareem bond: None with Franzi established in Book 1.

Sexual energy: Tastes of frosted honey melon, cool mint, a pine forest beneath new snow and silver bells ringing through a winter dawn.

Magical energy: Not specifically sampled or characterised in Book 1.

Nickname / address for Franzi:

Helen Roseheart

Role: Damian's daughter by House and choice; one of his two youngest children; Succubus and socially accomplished Demon noblewoman.

Age: 112 years old.

Appearance: Delicate and almost angelically beautiful despite her Demonic nature. In her Succubus form, cream-coloured horns polished like carved ivory curve from her temples, red-black wings fold neatly behind her and a slender tail tends to rest with almost demure elegance.

Face: Soft, luminous violet eyes and a sweet, innocent-looking face that naturally encourages trust.

Hair: Pale blonde curls.

Body Build: Fine-boned, thin and delicate, with a light, elegant frame

Voice: Gentle, beautifully measured and carefully polished. She speaks with soft, cultivated warmth and rarely allows strain or hostility into her delivery, making even calculated words sound reasonable and sincere.

Personality: Polished, socially accomplished, controlled and highly conscious of appearances. Helen is exceptionally skilled at presenting warmth, innocence and harmlessness, and she understands how to make people want to trust her. Beneath that presentation she is calculating and manipulative, preferring subtle influence to open confrontation. She is also capable and accustomed to organising within noble society.

Mating / hareem bond: None with Franzi established in Book 1.

Sexual energy: Tastes of jasmine blooming at midnight over sun-warmed citrus and molten gold. Beautiful and intoxicating, but with a faint wrongness lingering beneath the sweetness.

Magical energy: Not specifically sampled or characterised in Book 1.

Nickname / address for Franzi: Stepsister, occasionally “dear stepsister.”

Rulers, Royals and Close Allies
Drago Nikolai Dragovich

Role: Dragon Emperor, Black Dragon, powerful Fire Mage and exceptionally experienced warrior.

Appearance: An enormous, imposing Black Dragonkin ruler whose presence radiates heat, physical power and authority. Dark where Aurelian is pale and icy, Drago is all black, fire and controlled strength.

Face: Strong, masculine features with extraordinary black-diamond eyes. Their depths appear almost completely black, but brilliant points of light glitter inside them like stars trapped in polished obsidian.

Hair: Jet-black.

Body Build: Extremely tall, broad and massively muscular, with enormous shoulders, a powerful chest, heavy arms and a sharply defined eight-pack. His size is built around functional strength rather than bulk for its own sake, and despite his mass he moves with the economy and precision of a highly trained warrior.

Voice: Deep, low and powerful, frequently carrying a gravelly rumble that can seem to vibrate through the listener. His manner of speaking is generally direct and economical, with little of Aurelian’s elaborate courtly phrasing. Dry humour and deliberate sexual teasing frequently roughen that controlled delivery.

Personality: Direct, commanding, proud and pragmatic, with the absolute confidence of someone accustomed to power and obedience. Drago is intensely physical, competitive and battle-trained, but not thoughtlessly aggressive. He can set aside ancient political hostility when necessary, notices practical danger quickly and becomes fiercely protective once his loyalty is earned. His humour is dry, frequently provocative and considerably less refined than Aurelian’s.

Mating / hareem bond: Mate-bonded to Franzi. His bond is black as the night sky, scattered with brilliant stars, mirroring his eyes. It is soul-woven rather than attached to her magical core.

Sexual energy: Tastes of meat sizzling over hot coals, a blazing sunset and a metallic undertone of immense power, hotter, darker and more primal than Aurelian’s.

Magical energy: Dense, hot and ancient, like standing too close to a forge while something vast breathes behind the flames. Even a tiny sample carries an enormous sense of contained power.

Nickname / address for Franzi: Miracle, frequently my Miracle.

Aurelian Frostfey

Role: Fae Emperor, King of the Ice Court, powerful Ice Mage and accomplished warrior.

Appearance: Exceptionally elegant, aristocratic and refined, with an unmistakable Frostfey presence. Ice dominates his colouring: blue-silver hair and eyes, pale skin and enormous silver-blue wings threaded with brilliant electric-blue veins. His beauty is refined rather than delicate; even standing still, he carries himself like both a sovereign and a trained warrior.

Face: Cold, beautiful aristocratic features with luminous blue-silver eyes that have the clear, glacial quality of ice catching light.

Hair: Long, flowing blue-silver hair, pale as frost with a distinct icy-blue sheen.

Body Build: Tall and slender rather than bulky, but strongly muscled and unmistakably powerful, with a defined chest and six-pack. His build combines a warrior’s strength with the long, graceful lines of a Fae. He is neither small nor delicate.

Voice: Beautifully modulated, cultured and melodic, flowing like velvet over ice. His delivery is normally polished and controlled, often carrying dry amusement, courtly formality or understated arrogance. When that control frays, the roughness underneath makes the contrast particularly noticeable to Franzi.

Personality: Proud, composed, intelligent, refined and occasionally arrogant. Aurelian has impeccable court manners and a dry, sophisticated sense of humour, but beneath the polish he is a formidable warrior with strong protective instincts. He values competence and loyalty, can put political hostility aside when necessary and remains remarkably controlled even after prolonged torture.

Mating / hareem bond: Mate-bonded to Franzi. His mating bond resembles a frosted icicle caught in sunlight, elegant, cold and luminous, its crystalline surface breaking the light into tiny flashes. It is soul-woven rather than attached to her magical core. This appearance is explicitly present in Book 1.

Sexual energy: Tastes of icy mint, sunlight glittering across a glacier and something metallic underneath, a hint of immense power wrapped inside crystalline cold.

Magical energy: Feels like a frozen landscape: compressed cold, water held in perfect suspension, pressure and crystalline clarity layered over something immense and tightly controlled.

Nickname / address for Franzi: My lady.

Thalian Fenrik Greythorn, “Hunter”

Role: Wolven Crown Prince and formidable warrior rescued from the first Facility. He subsequently assists Franzi in all three Facility rescues.

Appearance: A huge, rugged warrior with the presence of an ancient warlord or wilderness woodsman. Even properly clothed and groomed, Hunter retains a distinctly wild quality without appearing neglected or scruffy.

Face: Rugged, weather-worn features, a strong square jaw beneath a long untidy beard, old scars and piercing forest-green eyes. His severe warlord expression can transform completely when he smiles, revealing an unexpected warmth underneath.

Hair: Shoulder-length grey-brown hair, thick and somewhat unruly.

Body Build: Well over two metres tall and even more massive than Drago, with huge shoulders, a barrel chest, thick muscular arms and rough, calloused hands. His size gives him the impression of a moving wall, but he is considerably more controlled and agile than his sheer mass initially suggests.

Voice: A deep bass rumble that suits his enormous build. His speech is generally straightforward and unpretentious, capable of sounding intimidating without effort, but warmth and dry humour emerge quickly around people he trusts.

Personality: Quietly authoritative, resilient, blunt and dependable. Hunter has the confidence of someone who does not need his title to establish authority. He is a disciplined and experienced warrior, intensely protective, loyal and practical, with considerable restraint and a dry sense of humour beneath the intimidating exterior.

Mating / hareem bond: None with Franzi

Sexual energy: Not specifically tasted or characterised

Magical energy: Feels like a forest at night, wild instinct and moonlight held firmly under the control of a highly trained mind. Powerful and natural without being chaotic.

Nickname: Hunter is Thalian’s own nickname.

Nickname for Franzi: Franzi

Kasimir Luthien

Role: Grand Magister Kasimir Luthien, First Dragon Wizard, one of the most powerful and respected Dragon mages, and Serena Luthien’s father. Later material also establishes him as leader of the Circle of Eight.

Appearance: When Franzi first meets him, Kasimir appears stooped, ancient, weathered and physically beaten down, dressed in crimson-and-gold Court Mage robes and leaning heavily on a towering black staff. This is not his normal appearance. Prolonged grief, fear for Serena, magical overwork, stress and physical collapse have prematurely aged him. Once Franzi heals him and restores his magical reserves, the apparent age falls away and he looks dramatically younger and strikingly attractive, approximately in his early thirties.

Face: Initially deeply lined and exhausted, with the weathered appearance of a much older man. After Healing, the lines caused by stress and physical collapse soften considerably, revealing handsome, intelligent features. His golden eyes are exceptionally bright and perceptive once his strength returns.

Hair: Shining silver hair falling to his shoulders. During his initial collapse it appears dull and lifeless, contributing to his aged appearance. Once restored, it catches the light with a bright metallic lustre.

Body Build: Slender rather than bulky, but clearly and strongly muscular. Broad shoulders, defined chest, narrow waist and a visible six-pack give him an elegant but powerful physique. His build is more refined than Drago’s massive frame, but there is nothing frail about him once restored.

Voice: Cultured, precise and authoritative, reflecting both his aristocratic background and his position as First Dragon Wizard. His normal delivery is intelligent and controlled, with dry humour becoming more apparent once the immediate crisis surrounding Serena has passed.

Personality: Brilliant, proud, scholarly and extraordinarily powerful. Kasimir can be intimidating and initially carries some of the ingrained superiority of Dragon Court culture, but he is intelligent enough to change his judgement when evidence proves him wrong. He is deeply devoted to Serena and is willing to destroy himself physically and magically to protect her. Once freed from that constant fear, a warmer and more eccentric side emerges: dry humour, intellectual enthusiasm and the absent-minded habits of a formidable academic. Serena describes him as brilliant and terrifying, capable of leaving books everywhere while commanding enough power to light the sky on fire; his colleagues simultaneously adore him and want to strangle him.

Magical energy: His Dragon magic is immediately recognisable as different from Drago’s. Kasimir’s signature carries extraordinary complexity, with vast currents folded through intricate patterns, layer upon layer interacting so precisely that attempting to follow them makes Franzi’s head ache. Beneath that complexity lies the enormous, tightly controlled reservoir of one of Fairyland’s most powerful mages. The manuscript establishes that his core is enormous, though still smaller than Drago’s.

Mating / hareem bond: None with Franzi in Book 1.

Sexual energy: Not specifically tasted or characterised by Franzi in Book 1.

Address / nickname for Franzi: No distinctive personal nickname firmly established in Book 1; generally Franziska.

#### Spoiler:

Kasimir is later associated/revealed as the Gold Dragon. Do not reveal this prematurely in Book 1.

Serena Luthien

Role: Dragonkin noblewoman, daughter of Grand Magister Kasimir Luthien and later Franzi’s Secretary of Time.

Appearance: A strikingly beautiful and impeccably polished Dragon noblewoman with the cool, controlled presence of an aristocratic ice queen, despite ice not being her element. Fine silver hair, large intelligent golden eyes, long silver lashes and elegant features give her an almost delicate courtly appearance. She looks far more like a woman who might be mortally offended by the wrong dinner fork than a dangerous predator, which repeatedly makes Franzi forget that Serena is, in fact, a Dragon.

Face: Fine, aristocratic features with a pointed chin, sensual mouth and large, intelligent golden eyes beneath high, expressive arched brows. Long silver lashes soften an expression that is usually stern, assessing or faintly superior.

Hair: Fine silver hair with a bright, silky sheen, usually worn in an elegant and controlled style appropriate to a Dragon Court lady.

Body Build: About a head taller than Franzi, long, slender and wiry with a sensual, graceful figure. Serena’s strength is almost completely understated by her appearance. She looks refined rather than athletic, but beneath the elegant frame is the considerable strength of a Dragon. Long elegant legs that drive Jared and Azarael crazy.

Voice: Polished, educated and unmistakably aristocratic. Serena speaks with the confidence of someone raised at the highest levels of Dragon Court society and is entirely comfortable correcting titles, etiquette and procedure. As she grows closer to Franzi, her delivery becomes warmer and drier without losing its authority.

Personality: Serena begins as a spoilt, proud and somewhat arrogant Dragon Court lady, highly conscious of rank, pedigree, etiquette and the superiority of Dragon culture. She is intelligent, bossy, diplomatically knowledgeable and frighteningly efficient. Through Franzi and her work at the Red Mansion, she gradually becomes more meritocratic, learning to judge people by competence, character and conduct rather than race or status. She becomes a genuine friend to Franzi.

Relationship with Franzi: Employer at first, then trusted assistant, and gradually a real friend.

Magical energy: Not yet specifically characterised strongly enough in Book 1 to lock down.

Sexual energy: Not specifically characterised in Book 1.

Mating / hareem bond: None with Franzi.

Nickname / address for Franzi: No fixed nickname; early on she prefers proper forms of address.

#### Spoiler / later-canon note

Serena’s cool, icy appearance is visual rather than elemental. Her true element is air, though that does not become apparent until later.

Although she looks refined rather than physically imposing, Serena possesses understated Dragon strength. As a Dragon, she is much stronger than her elegant appearance initially suggests.

Members of the Demon Army
Malrik the Infernal Warden

Formal rank: Lord Commander Malrik the Infernal Warden

Role: Commander of the Demon Army’s front-line shock troops.

Race: Charredborn Demon.

Appearance: A towering volcanic-looking warrior whose sheer presence is intended to intimidate before battle even begins. His Charredborn skin resembles dark, heat-scorched stone with ember-red fissures glowing beneath the surface. He wears completely red armour, deliberately making himself impossible to overlook on the battlefield.

Face: Severe, weathered features with a sharp jaw and deep-set molten-crimson eyes. His expression tends towards controlled intensity rather than open aggression.

Hair: Bald, with faint ember-like markings and glowing fissures across his scalp.

Body Build: Towering and massively muscular, built like a front-line shock trooper. Powerful without the dense grappler build of Trazel or Azrith’s stockier proportions.

Armour / unit colours: Solid red. Malrik actively wants the enemy to see him coming. His philosophy is simple: “I want them to see me coming and be afraid.”

Weapon: An enormous infernal flail whose links glow with contained fire.

Voice: Deep, controlled and economical. Malrik tends to speak plainly and rarely wastes words, although his confidence becomes considerably less reliable when his feelings for Franzi are involved.

Personality: Disciplined, ruthless and highly controlled in battle, but unexpectedly self-conscious in personal matters. Once Malrik gives his loyalty or affection, it becomes intensely focused and bordering on obsessive. Beneath the terrifying Infernal Warden is a deeply romantic man who expresses affection through persistence, meaningful gestures and gifts rather than effortless charm. Damian later jokes that Malrik would happily camp outside Franzi’s bedroom until she finally noticed him.

Relationship with Franzi: Franzi earns his loyalty during the Facility assaults by nearly exhausting herself creating additional protection for soldiers she barely knows. Malrik never forgets that she risked herself simply to increase the chance that he and his people would come home alive. His military respect gradually develops into fierce, deeply romantic devotion.

Combat identity: Front-line shock warfare, overwhelming force and intimidation.

Hareem bond: His bond is deep infernal red, glowing like banked coals beneath translucent stone, with tiny sparks moving through it.

Nickname for Franzi: Temptation later.

Azrith Doomspire

Formal rank: Lord Commander Azrith Doomspire

Role: Siege Engineer and Commander responsible for infernal war machines, battlefield engineering and heavy siege operations.

Race: Hybrid descended from Charredborn and Wrought-Iron Demons.

Appearance: A broad, powerful Demon whose body visibly combines fire and metal. Dark Charredborn flesh is interrupted by naturally iron-like sections and plating, with furnace-orange heat showing where the two seem to meet. His mechanical arm fits his appearance so naturally that at first glance it can be difficult to determine where racial metal ends and engineering begins.

Face: Broad, heavily browed features, frequently marked by soot, with bright burning-orange eyes.

Hair: Short and frequently singed or soot-streaked.

Body Build: Broad, stocky and immensely powerful, with a low, stable centre of gravity. Shorter and more compact than Malrik or Trazel, but built like a walking siege engine.

Armour / unit colours: Entirely black. Matte-black armour is practical around machinery, grease, soot, explosives and battlefield debris. Azrith’s explanation is characteristically straightforward: “I handle equipment. Stains are less visible on black.”

Weapon: Oversized infernal warhammer used with the same practical enthusiasm he applies to machinery and siege work.

Voice: Unexpectedly pleasant and melodious for someone who looks like a mobile siege weapon. Usually calm and thoughtful, with a deep, understated wit.

Personality: Curious, methodical, inventive, incredibly patient and remarkably generous. Azrith approaches problems with an engineer’s need to understand how they work and possesses a deep, dry wit that often appears only after he has quietly observed everyone else. His patience extends to people as well as machines. He does not believe affection can or should be forced and would metaphorically wait out a glacier if that was how long Franzi needed.

Relationship with Franzi: His devotion is steady rather than demanding. Franzi’s willingness to expend herself protecting the Facility assault teams earns his profound respect, and once his feelings deepen, his loyalty becomes something almost structural: carefully built, extremely difficult to shake and intended to last.

Combat identity: Siege warfare, infernal machinery, engineering, explosives and overwhelming structural destruction.

Hareem bond: to Franzi. His bond is forge-black, dark and glossy like worked metal, with faint furnace-orange heat visible deep within it.

Sexual energy: Not yet specifically characterised.

Magical energy: Not yet specifically characterised.

Nickname for Franzi: Beloved later.

Sythira Bloodveil

Formal rank: Lady Commander Sythira Bloodveil

Role: Shadowblade specialist and Commander of the Demon Army’s assassin units.

Appearance: A beautiful and dangerous Bloodwreath Demoness, descended from Nocturna and Bloodweavers. Wings in Demon form are blackened.

Face: Sharp features wirth dark maroon-red eyes and a blood-themed veil concealing part of her face.

Hair: Long wavy maroon-red. Rich and dark enough to read almost blood-dark in lower light.

Body Build: Slender, toned, athletic and built for stealth and speed.

Armour: Blood-red helmet; otherwise red leather armour with black accents, hugging her seductive curves.

Weapons: At least two daggers, one of which carries poisonous mist.

Voice: Low, controlled and edged with dry amusement. At times dangerously seductive.

Personality: Controlled, precise, observant and darkly playful.

Movement: Silent, graceful and feline.

Combat identity: Assassination, stealth, daggers and shadow-blood menace.

Hareem bond: to Franzi. A dark maroon-red bond, deep and velvety in colour, with playful sparkling lights flickering inside it. The overall effect is sensual, dangerous and subtly flirtatious, fitting Sythira’s mix of stealth, control and open sexuality.

Sexual energy: A sensual dance of daggers flirting with shadow and moonlight with hints of a deep red lipstick and laughter ringing through the night.

Magical energy: It’s dark, sharp and intricately controlled, carrying the sensation of poison, shadows and the precise stillness of an assassin waiting for the correct heartbeat.

Kharvouk Soulshatter

Formal rank: Lord Commander

Role: Senior magical specialist and battlefield sorcerer. One of the most formidable magical intellects among the Commanders.

Race: Bloodweaver Demon.

Appearance: Gaunt, elegant and unsettling rather than physically imposing. His deep violet eyes are unnaturally bright, and there is something slightly exhausted about him even when he is perfectly composed. A staff and an ancient whispering grimoire with blackened metal corners carved into Demonic faces accompanies him. He looks exactly like the sort of man sensible people expect to be conducting forbidden experiments in a locked tower.

Face: Gaunt and hollow-cheeked, with glowing red sigils etched into his skin. His eyes glow an eerie violet, exuding dark power.

Hair: Wispy, white, and flowing like smoke, giving him an ancient and otherworldly appearance.

Body Build: Tall and lean, almost austere. His apparent fragility is misleading. What power he possesses is magical rather than physical.

Voice: Cultured, precise and controlled. He speaks with the polished confidence of someone accustomed to being several intellectual steps ahead of the conversation. He rarely needs to raise his voice.

Personality: Exceptionally intelligent, learned, clever and magically ambitious. Kharvouk is frequently the most intelligent person in the room and is quite capable of outthinking people who themselves consider intelligence one of their defining qualities. He is manipulative when necessary, understands people extremely well and has few moral objections to using knowledge, misdirection or carefully chosen truths to produce the result he believes necessary.

Magic: Enormously powerful, with knowledge and ability sufficient to rival Kasimir in his own fields. There is something slightly disturbing about Kharvouk’s relationship with magic. Nobody is ever completely certain whether he commands it because he has mastered it so thoroughly, or whether he has gone so deeply into it that the magic has begun shaping him in return.

Hidden history: Kharvouk spent approximately ten years enslaved to an exceptionally sadistic master. The abuse nearly destroyed him and profoundly shaped his relationship with control, vulnerability and power. Michael eventually rescued him. Kharvouk never forgot it.

Relationship with Franzi: Franzi is Kharvouk’s nightmare because she embodies something he taught himself not to believe existed. After surviving years of sadistic enslavement, he built his life around intelligence, magical power, control and the certainty that relying upon another person was dangerous. Watching Franzi enter places of suffering and instinctively treat the imprisoned as equals, touching them without disgust, covering them, encouraging them and setting them free attacks those defences more effectively than cruelty ever could. He never allowed himself to hope that someone like her existed. Discovering that she does is bad enough. Realising that she might actually see him, accept him and possibly give him a chance is terrifying.

Hareem bond: A deep violet matching Kharvouk’s eyes, extraordinarily vivid and active. Brilliant currents of power continuously pulse through it in both directions, not like lightning but like concentrated magical energy flowing through a living conduit. The effect makes it appear as though Franzi and Kharvouk are perpetually feeding energy into one another, each pulse answered by another from the opposite direction.

Trazel the Bound Tyrant

Formal rank: Commander

Role: Commander specialising in prisoners, magical restraints, interrogation and enforcement.

Race: Wrought-Iron Demon.

Appearance: An enormous, brutally imposing Demon who looks less armoured than forged. His body has the dense, dark quality of worked metal, marked by old damage, runes and repairs. Blackened chains and broken shackles form part of his visual identity, making him resemble a prison that learned how to walk.

Face: Brutal, angular features. One eye has been replaced by a glowing red crystal, while his lower jaw is reinforced with dark metal.

Hair: Bald, with runic brands across his scalp.

Body Build: Enormous, dense and thickly muscled, with a huge neck, massive forearms and the compact power of a grappler. He looks specifically built to seize someone and make escape cease to be an option.

Armour / unit colours: Red and black, heavily accented with blackened chains. Trazel insists that red and black are “such cheerful colours” and claims he wears them so prisoners will underestimate him. Franzi remains unconvinced.

Voice: Deep, sardonic and frequently amused in situations where most people would find nothing remotely funny. His delivery can move from conversational sarcasm to quiet menace without noticeably changing volume.

Personality: Sarcastic, sardonic, psychologically perceptive and unapologetically sadistic. Trazel genuinely enjoys pain, fear and controlled cruelty, but he is neither mindless nor careless. He studies people constantly and tests Franzi repeatedly, not to humiliate or diminish her, but to push her towards the full extent of what she is capable of becoming.

Relationship with Franzi: Trazel worships Franzi without idealising her into something harmless. He accepts her compassion, her anger, her cruelty and the parts of herself she fears may be genuinely dark. To him, all of her is beautiful: the good, the bad and the evil. When Franzi needs to confront her capacity for torture or violence, Trazel can stand beside her without condemning her or offering comforting lies. He helps her understand that acknowledging her darkness does not require surrendering control to it.

Combat identity: Restraints, interrogation, prisoner handling, grappling, pain and psychological pressure.

Hareem bond: His bond is red and black, with dark chain-like strands interlocking through a deep red core and tiny points of light travelling along them.

Sexual energy: Not yet specifically characterised.

Magical energy: Not yet specifically characterised.

Nickname for Franzi: Gorgeous later.

Loryth Venombane

Formal rank: Commander

Role: Commander specialising in poisons, plagues and alchemical warfare.

Appearance: A deceptively fragile-looking Miasmari Demoness, shorter than Franzi, with an eerie poisonous beauty. She is announced by a thin green mist preceding.

Armour / colours: Traditional black-and-red leather armour, fitted closely enough not to interfere with her four arms and covered in an alarming number of belts, loops and pouches. Vials, charms, little bones and assorted alchemical components hang from nearly every available strap, along with several things Franzi decides she does not particularly want to identify.

Weapon: A scythe edged with something greenish.

Face: Yellow eyes, dramatic make-up and black-stained lips. Often wears a bone-mask.

Hair: Spiky green hair.

Body Build: Small, slight and seemingly vulnerable, though the impression is deeply misleading.

Arms: Four arms.

Voice: Calm, dry and precise.

Personality: Brilliant, vindictive, curious and scientifically minded. Loryth gives the impression that if crossed, she will absolutely get even.

Movement: Often accompanied by the rattle and tinkle of bones and glass vials.

Combat identity: Poison, plague, alchemy and slow revenge.

Hareem bond: to Franzi. A vivid fluorescent green, dramatic and luminous, like an outrageous cocktail that looks faintly dangerous but turns out to be unexpectedly fantastic. Sparkling highlights and shifting currents give it an addictive, almost alchemical appeal.

Draeven Hellmaw

Formal rank: Commander

Role: Berserker Captain commanding some of the Demon Army’s most ferocious front-line fighters.

Race: Half-Giant. Draeven serves in the Demon Army but is not himself a Demon.

Appearance: A huge, scarred Half-Giant warrior who is visually completely distinct from the infernal red-and-black Commanders around him. Sun-blond hair, living flesh and battered blue-green armour give him a warmer, more physical appearance than Malrik, Azrith or Trazel. His danger comes from sheer biological size rather than volcanic skin, living metal or infernal modifications.

Face: Broad, rugged and heavily scarred, with warm hazelnut-brown eyes and a wide, expressive mouth. His face is remarkably animated for such an intimidating man and frequently carries a grin suggesting he has just thought of something either amusing or deeply inappropriate.

Hair: Thick, rough blond hair, generally worn somewhat wild.

Body Build: Enormous, heavily muscled and built on a Half-Giant frame: huge shoulders, long powerful arms, thick thighs, heavy bones and oversized hands. His size is natural rather than magically or mechanically enhanced.

Armour / unit colours: Blue-green, turquoise and deep blue-green like a polished stone with darker veining or accents breaking up the brighter plates rather than the Demon Army’s more common reds and blacks. The Berserker units deliberately use the distinctive palette so allies can recognise them instantly in battlefield chaos and get out of their way when necessary.

Voice: Loud, expressive and deliberately uncomplicated. Draeven frequently speaks about himself in the third person, encouraging people to assume he is a straightforward Berserker with little interest in anything beyond fighting, sex and fun.

Personality: Exuberant, flirtatious, teasing and deliberately larger than life. Beneath the apparently simple Berserker persona lies considerable intelligence, practical ability and broader intellectual curiosity. Draeven is perfectly happy to let people underestimate him and rarely corrects the assumption unless doing so becomes useful. He recognises that Franzi has more than enough people determined to protect her and instead appoints himself to another task entirely: making certain she actually has fun.

Berserker state: Once deeply lost in Berserker mode, Draeven’s ability to distinguish friend from foe can become unreliable. His unit’s unusual colours therefore serve a practical battlefield purpose as well as differentiating them from the other Commanders. Draeven describes this rather cheerfully as giving allies advance warning to get out of the way and stop hogging all the fun.

Relationship with Franzi: Draeven’s devotion begins with the same Facility assault that earns the other Commanders’ loyalty. He sees how close Franzi comes to burning herself out simply to give their soldiers additional protection. Where others respond by becoming even more determined to protect her, Draeven also recognises the underlying problem: Franzi will sacrifice everything for everybody else unless someone occasionally drags her away from responsibility and reminds her that being alive is supposed to include enjoyment.

Combat identity: Berserker warfare, overwhelming physical force, shock assaults and controlled battlefield chaos.

Hareem bond: A vivid turquoise, like polished precious stone, blue-green but mineral rather than watery, with darker natural veining running through it and tiny crystalline points glittering inside.<br>Sexual energy: Not yet specifically characterised.

Magical energy: Not yet specifically characterised.

Nickname for Franzi: Doll

Xorath the Undying Flame

Formal rank: Commander

Role: Powerful Pyromancer and Siege specialist, specialising in destructive fire magic and high-risk battlefield operations. Commander of the Pyromancer and Siege units.

Race: Charredborn Demon.

Appearance: Xorath manifests the Charredborn traits very differently from Malrik. Where Malrik resembles cooled volcanic stone with fire trapped beneath it, Xorath appears to contain far more flame than solid matter. Dark, scorched skin forms around broad glowing fissures through which orange-red fire seems almost constantly visible. Heat shimmers faintly around him, and ash has a tendency to cling to both his armour and skin.

Face: Strong, sharply defined features with ember-bright eyes. His expressions are highly alert and often carry the faint amusement of someone considering whether something dangerous might also be entertaining.

Hair: Fiery red, short and spiked, often appearing as though it’s literally burning at the tips.

Body Build: Powerful and athletic rather than Trazel’s dense bulk or Azrith’s stockiness. Built for mobility and aggressive magical combat.

Armour: His scorched black armor emanates constant heat, and his crimson cape flickers like fire. He carries a flaming halberd and leaves burning footprints in his wake.

Voice: Confident, intelligent and usually touched by amusement. He can sound almost casual while discussing ideas that everyone else considers alarmingly dangerous.

Personality: Intelligent, self-aware, adventurous and strongly attracted to risk. Xorath enjoys discovering where the edge lies and walking close enough to it to feel the drop beneath his feet. He is not reckless in the sense of being stupid or unaware of consequences. Quite the opposite. He usually knows exactly how dangerous something is, which is part of why he enjoys it. His self-awareness keeps thrill-seeking from becoming suicidal recklessness.

Relationship with Franzi: Xorath recognises a kindred spirit in Franzi because she repeatedly tests the limits of her Powers, her endurance and what she believes herself capable of doing. Where others sometimes want her to be more cautious, Xorath understands the need to know. He respects that she approaches the edge, studies it and then asks whether she can go one step farther. Their shared fascination with boundaries becomes an important part of his attraction and devotion to her.

Combat identity: Pyromancy, destructive fire, dangerous magical experimentation and controlled high-risk operations.

Hareem bond: to Franzi. His bond manifests as a living flame, constantly moving and reshaping itself as though fire has been woven directly into the connection. Unlike Malrik’s deep red, ember-like bond, Xorath’s never appears still.

Sexual energy: Not yet specifically characterised.

Magical energy: Restless living fire under conscious control, always seeming to seek another path, another combustible surface, another fraction hotter.

Nickname for Franzi: Trouble.

Velkris Nightgloom

Formal rank: Commander

Role: Archer, scout and reconnaissance specialist. Excels at infiltration, surveillance, tracking, battlefield observation and adapting plans when circumstances change. Commander of the Demonic Archers and Scout units.

Race: Nocturna.

Appearance: His existing pale skin, black eyes, obsidian bow and dark equipment work very well. His armour is built around mobility, concealment and silence rather than intimidation with bat-like ears. It is eerie, how easily the eye slides past him when he does not want attention.

Face: Pale, sharply defined features with deep black eyes that seem to absorb rather than reflect light. His ears are elongated and distinctly bat-like, rising into tapered points that give his otherwise restrained appearance an unmistakably Nocturna quality.

Body Build: Lean, athletic and deceptively strong. Built for endurance, climbing, balance and precision rather than mass.

Movement: Almost completely silent. His stillness should feel predatory rather than passive. He and Sythira can move with nearly identical levels of stealth, enough that Franzi may eventually think of them as male and female reflections of the same hunting instinct.

Voice: Quiet, economical and controlled. He rarely raises it. The more dangerous Velkris becomes, the quieter he gets.

Personality: Patient, observant, calculating and highly adaptable. Velkris dislikes sitting idle simply because he has not been assigned an immediate task. If he is not participating directly in an operation, he scouts, watches, gathers information, studies routes, anticipates problems, develops alternatives and quietly modifies plans before anyone else realises they need modifying. He notices people as closely as terrain. Expressions, habits, weaknesses, relationships and small inconsistencies rarely escape him.

Combat identity: A predator hunting from concealment. Velkris prefers to know where everyone is before anyone knows where he is. His bow allows him to control a battlefield from a distance, but his greater weapon is information.

Armour / colours: Dark, practical armour designed for mobility, silence and concealment. His armour is built around mobility, concealment and silence rather than intimidation. His helmet is shaped to accommodate his long, bat-like ears rather than covering them. Over the armour he wears a mottled dark-grey cloak, its irregular shades breaking up his outline against shadow, stone and woodland gloom.

Danger tell: Silence. Velkris is naturally quiet, but when he becomes almost completely silent, someone is usually about to have a very bad day.

Relationship with Franzi: Velkris’s attraction develops into the intense fixation characteristic of his Nocturna heritage, but unlike less disciplined Nocturna he hides it exceptionally well. Franzi fascinates him because she is difficult to predict, constantly evolving and surrounded by situations that require him to adapt. Watching her never becomes boring. His devotion expresses itself through observation, preparation and quiet protection rather than overt courtship. Once interested, he studies what makes her happy, what frightens her, how she reacts under pressure and what she needs before she asks for it.

Sexuality and relationships:

Velkris has never been interested in casual relationships and has no known history of lovers. His comrades assume that someone as secretive as he is probably has discreet flings they simply never hear about. They are wrong. Long before meeting Franzi, Velkris paid an experienced courtesan for an entire week, not primarily for sex but for instruction. He wanted to understand how to pleasure a woman thoroughly, reasoning that if he ever found someone he genuinely wanted, ignorance would be an unacceptable disadvantage.

Hareem-bond: to Franzi. His bond resembles magical camouflage, constantly shifting its colour, texture and apparent depth to blend with whatever surrounds it. At a glance it can almost disappear entirely, yet beneath that concealment it is extraordinarily strong, one of those bonds whose visual subtlety completely disguises its intensity.

Nick for Franzi: Sunshine

Serith Voidthorn

Formal rank: Commander

Race: Three-quarter Tiefling, one-quarter Incubus. His Tiefling heritage dominates both his physiology and his remarkable social adaptability. His Incubus ancestry grants subtle allure, heightened sexual awareness and the ability to feed on sexual energy, although he requires far less of it than a full Incubus and can function indefinitely without regular sexual feeding.

Role: Commander within the Demon Army; infiltration and sabotage specialist commanding infiltrators and saboteurs. Highly capable in operations requiring charm, adaptability, manipulation and reading people.

Appearance: Beautiful in an almost cherubic way, with a deceptively innocent, approachable air that completely contradicts the reactions he inspires in those who know him well. Serith looks like someone who ought to be harmless. He very much is not.

Face: An almost boyishly beautiful face with fine, elegant features and an open, luminous smile that can make him appear warm, trustworthy and entirely non-threatening at first glance.

Eyes: Cornflower-blue eyes, bright, clear and far too innocent-looking for the man behind them.

Hair: Soft light-blonde hair that falls just above his shoulders, often left slightly tousled to enhance his unassuming appearance.

Body Build: Graceful, lean and athletic rather than physically overwhelming.

Armour / colours: Traditional black-and-red armour, keeping him visually within the Demon Army palette even while his face and colouring seem almost too soft and bright for it. He also wears a very ordinary dark grey cloak over it.

Voice: Light, charming and flexible. Serith can sound courtly, intimate, playful, sympathetic or conspiratorial as needed. His voice is one of the tools he uses best.

Personality: Charming, intelligent, ruthless and ambitious. Serith is a true social chameleon. Whoever he speaks to tends to come away feeling that Serith understands them, likes them and is somehow already on their side. He can move with effortless credibility through nearly any social setting, just as comfortable talking to a lumberjack as he is properly courting a court lady. He instinctively understands tone, class, etiquette and social expectation and can adapt himself to them all without seeming false.<br>Beneath that charm is a highly dangerous man: observant, strategic, emotionally perceptive and perfectly willing to use those skills ruthlessly when required. He is fiercely loyal to Damian, Michael, his fellow Commanders and the Demon Army, and much of his menace comes from how effectively he can smile while deciding exactly where to strike.

Social effect: Serith has the gift of making almost anyone feel as though he is already their friend, their ally or someone they have always known. This is part of why people who understand him are so wary: they know how easy it is to trust him.

Relationship with the other Commanders: Serith genuinely admires and looks up to his fellow Commanders, even though many of them treat him with a degree of caution. Their wariness does not come from lack of respect, but from knowing exactly how dangerous he is beneath the charm.

Relationship with Franzi: Franzi experiences Serith as something beautiful, fascinating and inherently dangerous — a snake she knows will bite her eventually, the only uncertainty being when. That tension is part of what draws her to him. Serith’s loyalty to her is real, but it never becomes blandly soft; he remains sharp, playful and just a little dangerous even in affection.

Sexual / intimate dynamic: Sexually dominant, but not sadistic in Trazel’s way. Serith dominates Franzi because he knows she enjoys it and because it gives her pleasure, release and an outlet. He may tie her up, spank her and control the interaction with confidence and skill, but the intention is not cruelty. His biting, however, is part of his affectionate language: playful, possessive and deliberately stimulating — enough to keep her alert and remind her exactly who she is dealing with.

Hareem bond: to Franzi. His bond resembles baby-blue snakeskin scales, shimmering in the light with that shifting, iridescent effect real scales can have when they catch the sun. The bond is beautiful, elegant and faintly unsettling, perfectly matching Serith’s combination of charm and danger.

Sexual energy: Not yet specifically characterised, unless you want to define it now.

Magical energy: Not yet specifically characterised strongly enough to lock down here, unless already fixed elsewhere.

Nick for Franzi: Princess

Rashoon Oyal

Formal rank: Specialist, later bodyguard

Role: Tiefling Demoness soldier originally serving under Commander Loryth Venombane. Rescued from the second Facility; later becomes one of Franzi's bodyguards and most constant protectors, assigned to remain at her side during the third Facility rescue.

Race: Tiefling Demon.

Appearance: A striking Tiefling woman with black hair and smooth black horns swept back from her temples.

Face: Beautiful and strong-featured rather than delicate, with eyes so completely black that iris and pupil are indistinguishable. Their depth makes her expressions unusually difficult to read.

Body Build: Athletic, capable and grounded, with the body of a professional fighter.

Voice: Varies with persona.

Personality: Possesses multiple distinct Tiefling personas. One is highly professional, controlled and almost impersonal; another is warm, teasing, sensual and openly flirtatious.

Movement: Efficient, practical and tactically aware.

Combat identity: Twin curved swords, close protection and constant threat assessment.

Hareem bond: A luminous rose-quartz bond, translucent blush-pink with cloudy crystalline depths and brighter veins of light running through it. At first glance it looks unexpectedly soft and romantic for Rashoon, almost like the bond remembers that Franzi first found her as a damsel in distress and carried her out of hell. Yet the crystal never looks fragile. Light catches along hard facets beneath the softness, giving it the impression of something beautiful that could still withstand considerable force. When Rashoon’s happier, flirtatious side comes forward, tiny warm-gold sparks dance through the rose quartz like sunlight caught inside the stone.<br><br>

The Red Mansion
Lord Severn

Role: Franzi’s butler, former Demon Army Captain and de facto household administrator.

Race: Charredborn Demon

Appearance: Imposing Demon in immaculate formal clothing, usually a black tailcoat, white cravat, polished boots and a pocket watch.

Face: Charcoal-grey skin, garnet eyes and two dark horns; his expression is generally controlled to the point where a raised eyebrow constitutes an event. Garnet-red eyes

Hair: neat black

Body Build: Easily two metres tall, powerful and military-straight.

Personality: Unflappable, formal, loyal, dryly humorous and almost offensively competent. A former captain, strategist, etiquette expert and Master of Acquisition who appears personally offended by disorder.

Korran Deepquill

Role: Gargoyle Steward of Ledgers at the Red Mansion.

Appearance: His skin darkened into polished grey stone, small horns rose from his temples, his hands broadened into clawed fingers and folded wings appeared behind him. He remained roughly human-sized for a moment, then grew. Usually accompanied by ledgers, papers or ink-stained fingers. Tidy, rather short and stocky human man.

Face: Watchful eyes; finer facial details are not yet fixed.

Hair: No hair

Body Build: slender

Personality: Meticulous, orderly, financially precise and deeply comforted by properly maintained ledgers. He has the unenviable task of making Franzi understand just how much property and money she possesses.

Chef Trixie Tormentus

Role: Head Chef of the Red Mansion; formerly a palace cook.

Race: Wytch.

Appearance: Mature Wytch woman who is always immaculately presented for work, with a spotless white chef's apron worn over her House uniform. She almost invariably smells of something good from the kitchens: fresh bread, herbs, pastry, roasting meat or whatever she has been preparing most recently.

Face: Still lean from her imprisonment, making the lingering effects of captivity visible even after her rescue.

Hair: Dark blonde, normally pulled back into a bun and usually covered by appropriate chef's headwear while she is working.

Body Build: Mature and generously built, with an ample bosom, but visibly lighter than she ought to be after losing considerable weight during imprisonment.

Personality: Practical, direct, caring and professionally formidable. Trixie takes feeding hundreds of people seriously, refuses unnecessary distinctions between staff meals and Franzi’s own food and possesses strong opinions about how a kitchen should operate.

Mistress Lyrel Duskbranch

Role: Elven Housekeeper of the Red Mansion.

Appearance: Tall and poised, normally dressed in elegant but practical clothing in House Roseheart's colours, fully adopting the visual identity of the household she manages.

Face: Flawless pale skin and sharp green eyes.

Hair: Silver, worn in an elegant braid.

Body Build: Tall, slender and graceful.

Personality: Precise, commanding, practical and extremely experienced. Lyrel can manage an enormous multi-species household without losing her composure and appreciates an employer willing to delegate.

Solvar Emberplume

Role: Dragonkin Master of Ceremonies.

Appearance: Colourful, dramatic and exquisitely controlled, usually dressed in richly decorated crimson and gold.

Face: Angular features, polished curved horns and molten amber eyes emphasised with black eyeliner. Iridescent gold and deep-red scales mark his temples and throat.

Hair: Long black hair, exceptionally well maintained and deliberately styled to suit his polished, theatrical appearance.

Body Build: Tall, elegant and graceful.

Personality: Flamboyant without being foolish, witty, socially sophisticated and exceptionally good at ceremony and presentation. He possesses a theatrical streak but becomes completely serious when necessary.

Commander Vorkath Ironclaw

Role: Head of Security at the Red Mansion, leader of the Obsidian Wardens.

Appearance: Six-and-a-half feet of scarred carved granite with glowing ember-like veins. This is already Vorkath's compressed form rather than his true physical scale, and his presence remains subtly unnerving because the immense weight and mass of his full Gargoyle body can still be felt compressed into the smaller shape.

Face: Scarred, hard and imposing, with burning eyes and small nubbly horns rising from his forehead.

Hair: Granite-coloured. Worn short and slicked back while on duty; allowed to stand in rough spikes when off duty.

Body Build: Broad and immensely strong even while compressed to roughly six-and-a-half feet. In his full Gargoyle form he is substantially larger and bears enormous granite wings, powerful claws and the mass expected of a living stone predator.

Movement: Completely silent. The absence of sound is especially unsettling because something carrying that much compressed stone and weight should not be capable of moving without a footfall, scrape or vibration.

Personality: Unshakeably protective, tactically brilliant, stubborn and relentlessly professional. Vorkath specialises in defensive tactics and takes Franzi’s safety personally.

Kaelitha Darkstone

Role: Vorkath’s second-in-command and Offensive Tactics Specialist.

Appearance: Dark-armoured Gargoyle whose stone skin carries a faint blue undertone and protective runic markings.

Face: Alert silver eyes.

Hair: Not specified.

Body Build: Human-sized when required, swift and agile rather than massively built.

Personality: Highly professional, cautious, tactically brilliant and dry. She does not allow prejudice or another guard’s confidence to replace her own assessment of a security situation and independently verifies work she does not entirely trust.

Vornak Stoneheart

Role: Gargoyle Combat Strategist and Lore Keeper.

Appearance: Purple and sparkly enough that Franzi initially rescues him largely because she likes looking at him.

Face: Not yet specified.

Hair: Not specified.

Body Build: Less physically imposing than some other Obsidian Wardens.

Personality: Highly intelligent, strategically minded, scholarly and considerably more interested in books and lore than social display. His expertise ultimately helps bring the Obsidian Wardens into Franzi’s service.

Maximilian “Max” Feyborn

Role: Fifteen-year-old Demon Technomancer and Keeper of Mirrors.

Race: Tiefling-Bloodweaver hybrid.

Appearance: A tanned teenage Demon with curling Tiefling horns, striking orange eyes and long glossy dark-brown hair. He looks unmistakably fifteen rather than like a miniature adult.

Face: Youthful and still pimpled, with bright orange eyes and the slightly unfinished look of a teenager whose features are still settling into adulthood. Beautiful ram horns curling from the sides of his forehead.

Hair: Long, glossy dark-brown hair.

Body Build: Slim and lanky, all elbows and knees, as though he is still actively growing into his own limbs.

Personality: Brilliant, enthusiastic, technologically obsessed and remarkably resilient. Max is cheeky enough to call an Imperial Princess “chummer”, but takes his expertise and responsibilities seriously and becomes indispensable during the Facility rescue.

Wizard Eldrin Malvorn

Role: Demon wizard specialising in artificing, runes and magical binding.

Race: Bloodweaver Demon.

Appearance: An ancient Bloodweaver whose once richer racial colouring has faded almost completely with age, as though centuries have slowly bleached the colour from him. His skin is a pale, desaturated grey with only the faintest washed-out wine-red undertone, while the vein-like markings typical of Bloodweavers have faded to muted dusty mauve. He is initially frail and dressed in faded robes that were once expensive.

Face: Deeply lined by age and hardship. His warm, intelligent eyes retain a muted wine-red cast beneath the grey of extreme age, and spectacles balance precariously on his nose.

Hair: Long, wiry grey hair falling to his shoulders, usually pulled back neatly.

Body Build: Small and frail when Franzi finds him; his twisted foot, arthritis and damaged magical channels are subsequently healed. Even after Healing, his great age remains visible rather than being erased.

Personality: Learned, careful, modest and courageous. Malvorn possesses substantial magical expertise without the arrogance Franzi has come to expect from many powerful people.

Avereth Malcairn

Role: Head Librarian of the Red Mansion and renowned scholar, particularly knowledgeable in magical history, ancient texts, runes and obscure lore.

Race: Charredborn Demon. Avereth displays a banked form of Charredborn physiology, with his infernal heat largely contained beneath the surface rather than manifesting as open flame or pronounced volcanic fissures.

Appearance: Tall, wiry Demon scholar usually dressed in flowing obsidian robes edged with crimson runes. His ash-grey skin is threaded with faint fiery-orange veins that pulse beneath the surface. He habitually wears enchanted spectacles low upon his nose, their lenses gleaming with otherworldly light and designed to assist in analysing enchantments, runes and magical structures. A leather-bound tome hangs from a chain at his belt, marked by an ominous moving sigil.

Face: Long, angular features with sharp cheekbones, heavy perpetually furrowed brows and molten-gold eyes. Elegant black horns curl from his forehead, their surfaces carved with tiny glowing glyphs marking an unidentified pact.

Hair: Shoulder-length, streaked with silver and usually slightly untidy, as though he has repeatedly dragged ink-stained claws through it while reading.

Body Build: Tall, slim and wiry.

Voice: Precise and slightly distracted, frequently giving the impression that several other thoughts are competing with the conversation.

Personality: Precise, intellectually curious, cautious and deeply scholarly. Avereth possesses the quiet authority of someone accustomed to commanding knowledge rather than people. He does not pretend certainty where evidence does not support it and can become completely absorbed by an unusual text, magical problem or historical mystery.

Cassian Brightspark

Role: Dragonkin footman at the Red Mansion.

Appearance: Handsome young Dragonkin with an easy, sun-warmed beach-boy look that contrasts amusingly with the immaculate professionalism of a Red Mansion footman. He usually seems to carry a faint air of amusement around him, as though something in the world is perpetually entertaining him, even when his manners remain perfectly correct. He looks very polished in his household uniform.

Face: Open, attractive features with warm brown eyes and an easy expression. Pale-cream Dragon horns rise from his temples and sweep neatly backwards. The corners of his mouth often seem on the verge of a smile.

Hair: Blond, slightly tousled rather than severely styled, though always kept neat enough for service. It is mostly tousled because Vyreth has a habit of putting his hands in it.

Body Build: Athletic and clearly muscular, broader and more strongly built than Vyreth without approaching the bulk of a dedicated heavy warrior. Not yet specified.

Personality: Courteous, professional, discreet and quietly courageous, with an easy-going warmth beneath his formal training. Cassian enjoys people and seems naturally amused by much of what happens around him, but he is never careless or disrespectful. He takes his responsibilities seriously and has considerably more backbone than his cheerful appearance initially suggests.

Relationship with Lord Severn: Cassian regards Lord Severn as his mentor and looks up to him enormously. He studies Severn’s standards, judgement and almost impossible competence closely, aspiring to become that capable himself without attempting to imitate Severn’s much more severe personality.<br><br>

Vyreth Shadowmere

Role: Demon footman at the Red Mansion.

Race: Part Nocturna, part Tiefling

Appearance: Described primarily as a discreet, shadowy presence; moves very silently. Looks and acts like he can handle himself.

Face: pale with dark blue eyes, straight nose, seldomly smiles

Hair: Short, black, neatly slicked back.

Body Build: Tall, slim, athletic, wiry.

Personality: Observant, discreet and highly capable of handling unusual or potentially dangerous guests. Like Cassian, he risks himself to protect staff and Fairy guests from Grimshaw.

The Dwarves
Master Joseph Builder

Role: Hill Dwarf master builder rescued from the first Facility.

Appearance: Dresses in Hill Dwarf clothing, leather trousers and linen shirts with a brown embroidered vest over it. Tidy, but a little ruffled, as if Mauven made sure he left the house properly dressed and then it deteriorates.

Face: Cold, grey eyes that warm most noiceably when looking at Mauven. Long well-kept beard down to his trousers.

Hair: Long, grey-brown hair, neatly bound back by a ribbon in the morning, gets progressively untidier the more his work distracts him.

Body Build: Almost wider, than tall. Short, stocky, muscular.

Personality: Gruff, blunt, exceptionally capable and intensely practical. Joseph can convey entire conversations through a grunt and tends to treat requests for magical energy like overdue contractual obligations.

Mauven Builder

Role: Hill Dwarf, Joseph’s wife and an increasingly important organiser within the settlement.

Appearance: Usually wears Hill Dwarf garb, like a deep sapphire gown that’s been embroidered with silver mountain ridges, while darker geometric patterns decorate the heavy skirt. A belt of hammered gold and small rubies encircle her small waist. Moves with a dancer’s poise and a warrior’s strength.

Face: Stunning with luminous hazel eyes, small button nose, full red lips.

Hair: Copper hair, that is usually woven into an elaborate braid threaded with gemstones.

Body Build: She is small, but doesn’t resemble the stereotypical Dwarven stocky built. In fact her figure is strong, but beatifully curved with breasts that keep distracting Franzi.

Personality: Warm, practical, shrewd and an accomplished negotiator. Mauven understands people and bargains extremely well and rapidly becomes one of Franzi’s friends.

Master Matthew Stonehearth

Role: Plains Dwarf Homeforger rescued from the first Facility.

Appearance: Dresses in Plains Dwarf garb, which is like Hills Dwarf garb just more colourful.

Face: Long brown braided beard to the middle of his chest. Laugh-lines around his warm, kind green eyes. Bulbous nose and big ears.

Hair: Long, brown hair down to the middle of his back, usually tied back with a colourful ribbon.

Body Build: Short, stocky, muscular, not as wide as Joseph.

Personality: Exceptionally polite, earnest, intelligent and practical. His almost painfully formal manners contrast wonderfully with Joseph’s grunts. He approaches even the possibility of an exploding Dwarf with calm logical consideration.

Chrysalyn

Role: Noctyralyn’s sister; Fairy with expertise in first aid and medical care.

Appearance: Ruby-coloured Fairy.

Face: Ruby eyes are established; high cheekbones, large brown eyes, pert lips, pointed ears.

Hair: Ruby colored like her wings.

Body Build: Small Fairy build.

Personality: Her withdrawn state immediately after rescue is a trauma response rather than her underlying personality, so her permanent personality is not yet defined from that scene alone.

Wings: Broad ruby-and-gold wings with a warmer appearance than Nocty’s.

The North
Freya Gunnhilddóttir

Role: Viking warrior of Hope’s End and wife of Major Ulf Svensson.

Hair: Golden hair, worn at least partly in braids; later styles include thicker braids streaked with white.

Body Build: Tall and broad-shouldered.

Sven Bjornsson

Role: Elder of Hope’s End and Ulf Svensson’s father.

Appearance: Elderly Viking wrapped in heavy furs and carrying a wooden staff crowned with a carved raven.

Face: Weathered by age and pain but with sharp, intelligent eyes.

Hair: Long grey beard; other hair details not specified.

Body Build: Elderly but still carrying the presence of a seasoned Northern warrior.

Personality: Calm, wise, fair and fatherly, but perfectly capable of becoming sharp when foolishness threatens serious negotiations. A natural mediator and voice of reason.

Varg Helvig

Role: Elder of Hope’s End and Viking warrior.

Appearance: A towering warrior in his prime, wearing a wolf pelt across his shoulders and carrying a battered shield painted with a snarling wolf.

Face: Strong, weathered warrior’s features; finer details are not yet fixed.

Hair: Thick auburn beard; other hair details are not yet specified.

Body Build: Tall, powerful and warrior-built.

Personality: Fierce, direct and deeply rooted in Viking custom. His status as an Elder reflects authority and standing rather than advanced age.

Jorath

Role: Leader of the Frost Giant delegation from Glaciarok and later a warrior who chooses to stand beside the Demon Army.

Appearance: Hulking Frost Giant in polished ice and dark-iron armour, carrying an enormous rune-marked axe.

Hair: Long braided beard, often gathering frost; other hair details are not yet firmly fixed.

Body Build: Enormous even by ordinary standards, broad and powerfully built.

Personality: Proud, responsible, protective and fiercely devoted to his people. His anger is formidable, but it is driven by duty rather than mindless aggression.

Hair: Hair and beard white as untouched snow.

Body Build: Nearly three metres tall despite a stooped posture; gaunt with age.

Personality: Wise, irreverent, perceptive and fond of provoking people. Vaelin possesses a dry sense of humour and considerable magical knowledge and appears to enjoy making younger people uncomfortable just enough to teach them something.

Bestla

Role: Female Elder of Glaciarok and Franzi’s teacher in duration-based magical binding.

Appearance: Ancient Frost Giantess, still striking despite her age and clearly magnificent in her youth. When Franzi first meets her, her hands are badly twisted by arthritis and she can no longer straighten her fingers.

Face: Not yet specifically described.

Hair: Not yet specified.

Body Build: Frost Giant; exact proportions beyond her race are not established.

Personality: Knowledgeable, practical, teasing and wonderfully irreverent. She laughs readily, bickers happily with Geirrod and gives Franzi an enormously valuable magical staff with the practical instruction to return it when she no longer needs it.

Geirrod

Role: Ancient Frost Giant Elder of Glaciarok.

Appearance: An equally ancient Frost Giant who appears old enough for Bestla to joke that he witnessed the dawn of time.

Face: Not yet specifically described.

Hair: Not yet specified.

Body Build: Ancient Frost Giant; exact proportions are not yet fixed.

Personality: Dry, proud and comfortable trading insults with Bestla. He insists he is younger than she is, which she considers irrelevant because he does not look it.

Haldrek

Role: Frost Giant shaman whose disastrous bargain introduces Franzi to the Northern Void threat.

Appearance: A crooked, worn figure who keeps to the shadows, hunched over a staff tipped with a sickly blue shard.

Face: Pale, drawn and sharply lined by years of difficult magic and stress.

Hair: Not yet specified.

Body Build: Stooped and worn rather than physically imposing.

Personality: Defensive, secretive and increasingly frightened. He believed he was acting to save Glaciarok, but his bargain with the Void beings costs his people their food, magic and safety.

Angels
Michael

Role: Angel General commanding one of the Demon Empire’s armies; highly experienced warrior and military commander. His wings were severed long before he meets Franzi.

Appearance: An enormous, imposing Angel approximately two and a half metres tall, with pale skin reminiscent of moonlight on marble and a distinctly silver-white personal colour palette. He normally wears gleaming white-and-gold Angel armour worked with intricate runes and symbols of divine authority. Even without his wings, he has an overwhelming physical and military presence.

Face: Beautiful and terrifying in equal measure, with sharp aristocratic features, high cheekbones, a strong jaw and deep silver eyes.

Hair: Pure white, thick and straight, falling to his shoulder blades.

Brows / lashes: White to silver, matching his hair and overall colouring.

Body Build: Exceptionally tall, broad-shouldered and massively powerful, with a sculpted chest, heavily defined musculature, hard abdominal lines and a narrow waist. Despite his tremendous size, he is proportionate and moves like the highly trained veteran warrior he is rather than a cumbersome brute.

Celestial markings: Living Celestial runes cover portions of his arms, shoulders and torso like luminous tattoos, faint silver-white light moving through them beneath his skin.

Wings: Enormous feathered wings, white at the base and fading gradually into silver along the outer feathers and edges. They were forcibly severed long before he meets Franzi, leaving old damage and scars across his back. His magic nevertheless retains their shape as a vast, intangible silver-white echo until Franzi restores them physically.

Voice: An extraordinarily deep bass that seems to rise through the floor and settle into the listener’s bones. Naturally commanding and authoritative, but capable of becoming unexpectedly soothing, silky or intimate. His military command voice can be almost impossible to ignore.

Personality: Proud, disciplined, commanding, honourable and intensely protective. Michael begins his relationship with Franzi carrying significant prejudice from his Angel upbringing and initially looks down on her as both a Succubus and an inexperienced newcomer. He is nevertheless intelligent and honour-bound enough to revise his judgement when her actions repeatedly prove his assumptions wrong. Beneath the formidable General is a dry sense of humour, considerable tenderness and a profound sense of responsibility towards those he considers his people. His protectiveness can become overprotective, and he sometimes assumes he knows what is best for those he loves.

Mating / hareem bond: Mate-bonded to Franzi. Michael’s bond resembles fractured divine light, countless shards of diamond brilliance flashing white, silver and faint rainbow reflections. Like all mate bonds, it is woven directly into the soul rather than attached to the magical core.

Sexual energy: Tastes like impossibly fine old champagne, dry, potent and explosively effervescent. The accompanying sensation is brilliant celestial light flooding Franzi’s Succubus nexus and channels, filling her with warmth, overwhelming happiness and a breathtaking sense of freedom. Because Franzi initially has no tolerance for Angel sexual energy, Michael’s energy can produce an extraordinarily powerful Angelstruck reaction.

Magical energy: Michael’s Seraphic magic feels like silver-white celestial light given structure and purpose. Brilliant but perfectly controlled, every current travels in precise alignment. Beneath the radiance lies immense, ancient pressure held under such absolute discipline that almost nothing appears wasted or uncontrolled.

Nickname / address for Franzi: Initially “Your Imperial Highness”, deliberately formal and distancing. As their relationship changes, he increasingly uses Franziska and “my Princess.”

Lirael

Role: Seraphim rescued from the third Facility after horrific experimentation and mutilation; sister of Caelion and Miriel. She pledges ten years of service to Franzi after being restored.

Appearance: A beautiful Seraph whose restored colouring runs from luminous silver into blushing rose.

Face: Not yet specifically described.

Hair: Shimmering silver fading to blushing rose at the tips.

Body Build: Not yet specifically described.

Wings: Restored silver wings softening into rose-pink along the outer feathers.

Personality: Serene, resilient and caring in the material following her rescue. She survives extreme abuse without losing her concern for others and quickly asks Franzi to help her brother.

Service: Warrior, protector, messenger and servant pledged to Franzi for ten years under ancient Angel law.

Caelion

Role: Seraphim rescued alongside Lirael; brother of Lirael and Miriel. He pledges ten years of service to Franzi after she restores him.

Appearance: A restored Seraph with a silver-and-azure colour gradient.

Face: Not yet specifically described.

Hair: Silver deepening into azure blue at the tips.

Body Build: Not yet specifically described.

Wings: Brilliant silver deepening into azure blue at the tips.

Personality: Not yet developed enough in Book 1 to define more narrowly without inventing characteristics.

Service: Warrior, protector, messenger and servant pledged to Franzi for ten years under ancient Angel law.

Others
Zareth T’Sareth

Role: Drow nobleman, master swordsman and wielder of the Fangs of T’Sareth.

Appearance: Tall Drow in close-fitting dark leather armour with silver detailing, carrying the black Veltharion and violet Slyvalin.

Face: Angular, striking features with crimson eyes.

Hair: White.

Body Build: Tall, lithe and wiry, his entire body visibly trained around swordsmanship rather than brute strength.

Personality: Honour-bound, deadly, competitive and highly self-assured, but capable of genuine respect and surprising humour. Zareth loves swordsmanship enough that discovering someone who can truly challenge him rapidly transforms hostility into exhilaration.

Princess Evertwinkle

Role: Unicorn Princess whose blood possesses extraordinary Healing properties.

Appearance: Radiant and sparkling, unmistakably ethereal even among Fairyland royalty.

Face: Not yet specifically defined.

Hair / Mane: Not yet specifically defined.

Body Build: Unicorn; exact physical colouring and proportions remain open.

Personality: Bright, enthusiastic, compassionate and idealistic, but capable of speaking firmly when circumstances demand it. Her natural exuberance is particularly obvious around Prince Skye.

Zodhe

Role: Leader of Clan Ouhaou, one of the reptilian peoples rescued from the Facilities.

Appearance: Reptilian; members of his people possess scales ranging from moss green to dark bronze.

Face: His individual facial details are not yet specified.

Hair: Not specified.

Body Build: Not yet individually specified.

Personality: Formal, grateful, honourable and commercially practical. He pledges his clan’s aid to Franzi and almost immediately begins discussing trade with Nocty when she recognises useful plants in his homeland.

Master Edward Alasteir

Role: Hellrath bookseller, reputed former pirate and expert negotiator.

Appearance: Deeply tanned Demon with black horns and the swagger of someone Franzi immediately thinks should be wearing a kilt.

Face: Described by Franzi as resembling the McTavish actor from Outlander; finer independent canon details are not yet established.

Hair: Not separately specified in the manuscript.

Body Build: Masculine and physically attractive enough to immediately catch Franzi’s attention; exact build not separately defined.

Personality: Confident, flirtatious, worldly and highly skilled at negotiation. He is knowledgeable without pretending to know things he does not and possesses enough humour to play along immediately when Franzi accidentally explains kilts and their potential advantages.

Smasher

Role: Stone Troll working as a bouncer at Lady Yasmin’s establishment in Hellrath.

Appearance: A genuine living stone person, his entire body composed of hard, smooth stone.

Face: dark eyes sunken into his stone visage.

Hair: none

Body Build: Enormous and exceptionally powerful; physically hard enough that ordinary skin can be abraded against his stone body.

Personality: Slow-spoken, literal, surprisingly gentle and conscientious. Despite his intimidating size and name, his first concern when presented with an intoxicated Franzi is whether she is capable of consenting and whether his stone body might hurt her. He proves much more careful than his appearance suggests.

FULL CHARACTER CANON

Book 2: Bonded by Fairyland

SPOILER WARNING: These are the characters as they are known by the end of Book 2. This section contains full spoilers for Abducted into Fairyland and Bonded by Fairyland.
House Roseheart
Franziska “Franzi” Roseheart

Role: POV protagonist; newly transformed Succubus of House Roseheart.

Race: Succubus.

Book 2 presence: On-page throughout.

Book 2 relevance: The entire book is anchored in Franzi’s POV as she learns Succubus culture, develops the Red Mansion, becomes involved in the Wolven conflict, builds her household and wider political network, and investigates threats around the Void and Shadow’s Talon.

Under extreme infernal power or fury, darkness can temporarily swallow the blue until his eyes become completely black.

Book 2 presence: On-page.

Book 2 relevance: Appears directly in House and political scenes, including the confrontation and aftermath involving Kaerthal.

Book 2 presence: On-page.

Book 2 relevance: Frequently interacts with Franzi and later joins her during the dance/art excursion.

Book 2 presence: On-page.

Book 2 relevance: Works with Franzi during the Wolven/forest period and appears repeatedly in household scenes.

Book 2 presence: On-page.

Book 2 relevance: Important in ball planning, House politics and Franzi’s education about Succubus customs.

Hair: Black.

Book 2 presence: On-page.

Book 2 relevance: Appears early in Book 2 and in recurring House/family scenes.

Nickname / address for Franzi: Stepsister.

Book 2 presence: On-page.

Book 2 relevance: Supports Franzi socially and politically, especially during the Lady’s Tea.

Body Build: Fine-boned, thin and delicate, with a light, elegant frame.

Book 2 presence: On-page.

Book 2 relevance: Central to the Lady’s Tea and later becomes a significant internal House problem.

Rulers, Royals and Close Allies
Empire of Fae
The Ashen Court
King Korrad Cinderflare

Role: King of the Ashen Court, husband of Queen Ashara and father of Prince Ignisar. A powerful Fae ruler and war strategist with a strong martial presence.

Appearance: A tall, imposing Fae with vibrant red skin. He wears black-and-gold armour, and his deep-red wings resemble dark stained glass: wide, sharp-edged and seemingly made for war.

Face: Strong-jawed and mature, with red eyes and a neatly trimmed white beard. When Franzi first meets him, he manages to look partly intrigued and partly put out while retaining his dignity.

Hair: Shoulder-length grey hair.

Body Build: Tall and broad-shouldered, with a frame that fills out his armour and reinforces his martial bearing.

Voice: Not physically described in either Book 2 manuscript. His speech is formal, controlled and economical.

Personality: Regal, diplomatic, pragmatic and protective of his family. Faced with an active assassination contract, his first concern is whether Franzi’s sanctuary will also cover Ashara and Ignisar. He tactfully ignores the compromising circumstances of his first meeting with Franzi and hides his amusement behind a cough. He also has a strong sense of reciprocity: the token price Franzi asks for three valuable protective amulets troubles him, and he immediately seeks a more substantial exchange, even offering Ignisar’s company for three years.

Magical energy: Not directly sampled or characterised by Franzi in Book 2. Ashara places her husband among the powerful figures immediately beneath Kasimir in the recognised magical hierarchy.

Mating / hareem bond: None with Franzi.

Sexual energy: Not tasted or characterised by Franzi in Book 2.

Address / nickname for Franzi: No personal nickname established. He addresses her formally as Your Imperial Highness.

Continuity: Book 2 uses King Cinderflare; Korrad Cinderflare is the full People-reference name. In the raw manuscript Franzi once calls him “Cinderflame” and he corrects her.

Queen Ashara

Role: Queen Consort of the Ashen Court, wife of King Cinderflare and mother of Prince Ignisar. A powerful Fae noblewoman in her own right; she places herself fourteenth in the recognised magical power hierarchy.

Appearance: Exceptionally beautiful, elegant and impeccably dressed. Her presentation is graceful and warm rather than overtly martial.

Face: High cheekbones, full lips and faint smile lines around her mouth and eyes. In the raw manuscript her eyes glow faintly red, but Franzi notices a softness in them that distinguishes Ashara from her son.

Hair: Long red hair framing her face.

Body Build: Curvaceous and feminine; her gown hugs her figure.

Wings: Red, finer and more delicate than Cinderflare’s, and shaped almost like rose petals edged in flame.

Voice: No physical quality is specified. Her manner of speaking is confident, socially assured and direct, moving easily between amused explanation and seriousness.

Personality: Warm, intelligent, observant, politically knowledgeable and self-assured. Ashara immediately recognises the significance of formal seating and explains Fae power rankings and testing customs without belittling Franzi. She laughs easily but becomes serious when discussing personal power, insisting that a woman always needs to know her own worth. Franzi quickly decides that she likes both Ashara’s laughter and her way of thinking.

Magical energy: Not directly sampled or characterised by Franzi in Book 2. Ashara states that she currently ranks fourteenth in the recognised magical power hierarchy.

Mating / hareem bond: None with Franzi.

Sexual energy: Not tasted or characterised by Franzi in Book 2.

Address / nickname for Franzi: No fixed nickname. The raw manuscript has her address Franzi as dear.

Prince Ignisar

Role: Prince of the Ashen Court, son of King Cinderflare and Queen Ashara. He is considered one of the most beautiful men in the Fae Empire.

Appearance: Spectacularly handsome and almost offensively polished. Every part of his presentation appears arranged for maximum effect: his clothes are perfectly tailored, his hair is calculatedly effortless and his posture displays complete awareness of how attractive most people find him. Franzi recognises his beauty but finds him too deliberate, polished and sleek to be appealing.

Face: Exceptionally handsome, but no individual facial features or eye colour are specified in either Book 2 manuscript.

Hair: Styled to look calculatedly effortless; its colour, length and texture are not specified.

Body Build: Described only as sleek; his height and musculature are not specified.

Voice: Not described in either Book 2 manuscript.

Personality: Extremely self-confident and fully aware of his effect on other people. His polished presentation suggests someone accustomed to admiration, and Serena becomes absorbed in him almost immediately. Beyond that public confidence and Franzi’s unfavourable first impression, the two Book 2 manuscripts do not establish enough dialogue or action to support a more detailed personality profile.

Magical energy: Not directly sampled or characterised by Franzi in Book 2.

Mating / hareem bond: None with Franzi.

Sexual energy: Not tasted or characterised by Franzi in Book 2.

Address / nickname for Franzi: No form of address or personal nickname is established in either Book 2 manuscript.

Moonlit Court
Noctyralyn “Nocty”

Role: Midnight-blue Fairy of the Moonlit Court and poison expert; former Moonlight Court operative and founder and Matron of the Moonlit Court.

Race: Midnight-blue Fairy.

Appearance: Deep sparkling midnight-blue Fairy with magnificent wings resembling night made physical.

Face: Beautiful with smoky dark blue eyes, long black lashes, pert nose, red sensual lips, high cheekbones, pointy ears.

Hair: Midnight blue.

Body Build: Small Fairy build; further proportions not fixed.

Personality: Intelligent, alert, pragmatic, protective and dryly humorous. Trauma does not erase her judgement or competence, and she quickly assumes responsibility for poisoned refugees once she is capable of doing so.

Wings: Midnight blue with silver veins and tiny silver-white points resembling stars.

Book 2 presence: On-page; major Book 2 character.

Book 2 relevance: Her history, sisters and the creation of the Moonlit Court become explicit.

Chrysalyn

Role: Noctyralyn’s sister; Fairy with expertise in first aid and medical care.

Race: Fairy.

Appearance: Rose-pink/rose-gold Fairy.

Face: Elven, pointy ears, pretty with rose-gold eyes and a small nose, high cheekbones.

Hair: Long rose-pink hair

Body Build: Small Fairy build.

Personality: Gentle, compassionate and emotionally expressive while retaining considerable resilience.

Wings: Rose-coloured to rose-gold.

Book 2 presence: On-page; her name is confirmed later in the Moonlit Court account.

Pyralyn

Role: Noctyralyn’s sister; expert in mental illness and psychological trauma.

Race: Fairy.

Book 2 presence: On-page; her name is confirmed later in the Moonlit Court account.

Dragon Empire
Grand Magister Kasimir Luthien

Role: Grand Magister Kasimir Luthien, First Dragon Wizard, one of the most powerful and respected Dragon mages, and Serena Luthien’s father. Later material also establishes him as leader of the Circle of Eight.

Race: Dragonkin.

Book 2 presence: On-page.

Book 2 relevance: Appears in the rune-magic and Dragon-related material.

Lady Maria Natasha Volkova

Role: Lady Maria Natasha Volkova, high-ranking Dragonkin noblewoman of the Dragon Empire and Emperor Drago’s former fiancée. Her rank, upbringing and bearing mark her as a woman bred for the highest level of Dragon Court life and diplomacy.

Appearance: A tall, devastatingly beautiful Dragoness whose pale-gold colouring and flawless composure make her seem like winter light given physical form. Every detail is controlled and exquisitely expensive: a severe dove-grey and silver gown fitted to her long frame, white-gold and diamond jewellery, claw-tipped fingers and graceful ancestral horns capped in engraved platinum. Her beauty is cool, precise and deliberately unreachable—less a flame than a polished icicle held to the throat.

Face: Delicate without being soft, with high cheekbones, a straight nose, restrained rose-coloured lips and pure golden Dragon eyes. Her eyes are bright, ancient and molten beneath a layer of frost. Pearl-gold scales shimmer faintly along her temples, cheekbones and throat, while her expressions remain so perfectly controlled that the smallest hardening of her face or tightening of her jaw carries real weight.

Hair: Luminous icy-gold blonde hair braided into a flawless crown and falling in a thick shining rope over one shoulder. Fine white-gold chains set with tiny diamonds and pale-blue stones are woven through the braid like frost catching sunlight.

Body Build: Tall, slender and built in long, elegant lines rather than curves. Her posture is immaculate and aristocratic, creating an impression of disciplined height, refinement and controlled strength.

Voice: Low, cool and controlled, with a faint Dragon accent that sharpens the edges of Franzi’s name. Maria speaks with precise economy. Even praise remains measured, while a quiet title or correction can carry an unmistakable warning.

Personality: Proud, disciplined, dignified and intensely self-controlled. Maria refuses to provide public entertainment when Helen weaponises her former engagement to Drago, containing her pain and anger rather than allowing the table to watch her bleed. She is politically perceptive, loyal to the Dragon Empire and capable of recognising courage without flattery. Although Franzi initially fears resentment, Maria responds to her with curiosity rather than hatred, thanks her for rescuing Drago and honours those Franzi carried out of captivity. She values composure, discretion, loyalty and the rare willingness to lead from the front.

Magical energy: Cool, bright and tightly ordered, like molten Dragon gold sealed beneath winter ice. Her power carries the precision of a drawn blade, the weight of inherited Dragon authority and the restrained heat of emotion held under flawless control.

Mating / hareem bond: None with Franzi. Maria was formerly engaged to Emperor Drago; the engagement had ended by the time she meets Franzi.

Sexual energy: Tastes of chilled golden wine, winter sunlight on polished steel, pale roses and a final thread of banked Dragon fire.

Address / nickname for Franzi: No personal nickname established. She addresses her formally as Princess Franziska or Princess.

High Matriarch Yelena Peskovyra

Role: High Matriarch of Clan Peskovyr, the Sand Dragons; desert-warfare strategist and one of the eight members of the Dragon Empire’s Circle of Eight. She is one of the most senior political, clan and magical authorities in the Dragon Empire.

Appearance: A magnificent older Dragoness with the ageless presence of a woman who has outlived enemies, husbands and wars without ever neglecting the requirements of power. Warm bronze-gold skin, sand-coloured scales and desert-rich clothing make her look sculpted from the landscape she rules. Her layered sand, copper and muted-rose gown resembles armour pretending to be silk, designed to conceal strength while preserving complete freedom of movement. Ancient gold, amber, carnelian, smoky quartz and black glass adorn her without ever making her appear ornamental.

Face: Strong, beautiful and commanding, with warm bronze-gold skin dusted by sand-coloured scales. Her golden eyes resemble the sun over dunes: beautiful from a distance and deadly when underestimated. Her smallest look can silence a table, and the rare warmth in her gaze feels significant because it is never given carelessly.

Hair: Pale gold streaked with white, swept into a magnificent coil and secured with long pins of carved bone, red jasper and beaten gold.

Body Build: Tall, powerful and regal, her mature figure carrying concealed warrior strength rather than fragility. She moves with economical control, and her clothing is deliberately constructed to flow, protect and permit movement.

Horns: Elegant ridged horns sweep back from her brow, coloured like sandstone after sunset and traced with fine bands of gold. Tiny charms of amber, carnelian, black glass and engraved Dragon gold hang from them like trophies; they look less like decoration than victories.

Voice: Deeply authoritative and powerfully projected without becoming loud. When Yelena speaks formally, her voice fills a space with the weight of age, armies and red desert suns. Her ordinary delivery is measured and diplomatic; her humour arrives in sudden, unrestrained barks of laughter.

Personality: Diplomatic, strategic, honour-bound, formidable and occasionally snarky, with a temper like shifting dunes. Yelena watches people and rooms as if assessing a battlefield, places herself where she can observe every important player and can turn a social exchange with the precision of a military manoeuvre. She sees through Helen’s cruelty instantly and shields Franzi without denying the truth, using public gratitude to restore Franzi’s dignity and political standing. She respects costly action, remembers debts and refuses to let genuine achievement be diminished by those who merely comment from safety. Beneath the severity she is compassionate, perceptive and unexpectedly funny. She likes beauty and stubborn women, works cooperatively with Kasimir and is entirely capable of smiling while turning an enemy into a dune.

Magical energy: Ancient desert power: sun-hot, dry and immense, with sandstorm sorcery folding around the deep geological pressure of desert geomancy. Her energy feels like dunes moving beneath a red sky—beautiful, patient and capable of burying armies—while the ground itself waits for her command.

Mating / hareem bond: None with Franzi.

Sexual energy: Tastes of sun-warmed amber, pomegranate, desert wind over hot stone and cool water hidden deep beneath the dunes.

Address / nickname for Franzi: No personal nickname established. She addresses her formally as Princess Franziska or Princess.

Wolven
Thalian Fenrik Greythorn, “Hunter”

Role: Wolven Crown Prince and formidable warrior rescued from the first Facility. He subsequently assists Franzi in all three Facility rescues.

Race: Wolven.

Race: Gargoyle.

Book 2 presence: On-page.

Book 2 relevance: Franzi discovers she has accidentally employed the Gargoyle heir for eleven gold per month.

Drow
Zareth T’Sareth

Role: Drow nobleman, master swordsman and wielder of the Fangs of T’Sareth; Drow Lord, assassin/thief and Head of House T’Sareth.

Race: Drow.

Appearance: Tall Drow in close-fitting dark leather armour with silver detailing, carrying the black Veltharion and violet Slyvalin.

Face: Angular, striking features with crimson eyes.

Hair: White.

Body Build: Tall, lithe and wiry, his entire body visibly trained around swordsmanship rather than brute strength.

Personality: Honour-bound, deadly, competitive and highly self-assured, but capable of genuine respect and surprising humour. Zareth loves swordsmanship enough that discovering someone who can truly challenge him rapidly transforms hostility into exhilaration.

Book 2 presence: On-page.

Book 2 relevance: Important in the dance lesson, Shadow’s Talon material and Jinn rescue.

Jinn
Kaelir al’Sarif

Role: Jinn; Illira’s brother.

Dreadlord Kaerthal the Voidclaw

Role: Demon Army general and major antagonist.

Book 2 presence: On-page.

Book 2 relevance: Central to the Wolven conflict and the later confrontation with Franzi and Damian.

General Michael

Role: Angel General commanding one of the Demon Empire’s armies; highly experienced warrior and military commander. His wings were severed long before he meets Franzi.

Race: Angel.

Book 2 presence: On-page repeatedly.

Book 2 relevance: Central to the Angel and Void material and to military planning.

Continuity: One source typo uses “Michal”; Michael is the established spelling.

Serena Luthien — Secretary of Time

Role: Dragonkin noblewoman, daughter of Grand Magister Kasimir Luthien and later Franzi’s Secretary of Time.

Race: Dragonkin.
